The Russia’s TOP 1000 Managers ranking has been published annually since 2001 and presents Russia’s best managers based on the assessment of their performance for the year. The list of nominees is formed by the Association of Managers, with consultancy support of Kommersant Publishing House, and is then verified by the members of the Top 1000 Award Academy. This ranking constitutes a reliable and efficient tool to measure the professional reputation of top managers in Russia.
A survey conducted for the purposes of the 2020 Ranking to learn how, subject to the pandemic's effects, the array of skills and competencies seen by top managers in Russia as critical in their functional areas evolves, revealed the highest priority was given to being able to see opportunities in a complicated and uncertain environment (73% of the surveyed), use a complex and multi-level approach to solving issues (63%), be emotionally intelligent and a good listener with strong cooperation skills (58%). The organizers of the rating therefore conclude that due to the pandemic, managers started to value tactical skills above strategic ones in terms of their relevance for running a business.
