Tikhvin Freight Car Building Plant (TVSZ), managed by RPC United Wagon Company, has produced the 10,000th freight car from the moment of its launch in January 2012.

The jubilee hopper car for the transportation of mineral fertilisers, equipped with innovative bogies with an axle load of 25t, will be shipped to Acron-Trans, part of Acron Group). The mineral car model 19-9870 has advanced technical and economic parameters compared to standard rolling stock, claims TVSZ.

Extended body dimensions and the 25t axle load allow an extra 5-6t car load capacity (up to 76.5 t) for wide freight nomenclature, reducing operating costs and increasing railways' capacity. Rail infrastructure maintenance spending is also redc ued due to the design's sueprior dynamic performance.

Repair intervals extended to 6 years or 500,000 km (3 years or 210,000 km for standard car) to first "roundhouse" servicing and to 4 years or 350,000 km (2 years or 160,000 km for standard car) between roundhouse servicing.

This year RPC UWC plans to produce up to 15,000 freight cars with advanced parameters in cooperation with partner plants and they will mostly feature 25t axle load capacity. Dmitry Bovykin, First Deputy CEO for General Management at RPC United Wagon Companym stated|: “The economic benefits of innovative cars are well known in the market. But the production of the 10,000th car at TVSZ testified to the fact that these benefits are now available for the average customer.”
