Tehnotrans has signed an agreement for United Wagon Co to supply 500 grain hopper wagons.

Tehnotrans has signed an agreement for United Wagon Co’s Tikhvin plant to supply 500 grain hopper wagons under a long-term lease by the end of 2016. The wagons will be to a new design with 25 tonne axleload bogies, enabling the capacity to be increased to 120 m3 or 76 tonnes.

Tehnotrans is the third largest owner of grain wagons in Russia, with a fleet of 2 200 hoppers and 500 vans.

‘The agreement signed with Tehnotrans is another confirmation of the market interest in new generation wagons,’ said Alexander Lukyanenko, Deputy CEO for Strategic Sales at UWC. ‘Our fruitful experience of co-operation with the largest transport companies and industrial enterprises is a reflection of the fact that that the mass adoption of innovative rolling stock is successful and promotes the development of the transport market on 1 520 mm gauge.’
