Tikhvin Freight Car Building Plant (TVSZ, managed by RPC “United Wagon Company”) has produced the 10,000th freight car from the moment of the enterprise`s launch in January 2012. The jubilee hopper car for the transportation of mineral fertilizers equipped with innovative bogies with axle load of 25 tf will be shipped to Acron-Trans (a part of Acron Group).
The mineral car model 19-9870 has advanced technical and economic parameters compared to standard rolling stock. Extended dimensions of the body and axle load of 25 tf allow implementing increased by 5-6 tons car load capacity (up to 76.5 t) for wide freight nomenclature. Both the rolling stock operators and shippers acquired additional benefit from the utilization of these cars due to increase of profitability of operation and decrease of transport cost of one ton of cargo.
Making up of freight trains from such rolling stock allows cutting down Russian Railways operating costs and increasing railroad carrying capacity due to reducing fuel and power consumption for the transportation of cargo and expenses for inspection of cars on the way as well as maintenance of infrastructure due to the decrease of dynamic effect of the cars with improved technical characteristics on the track.
Moreover, repair interval extended to 6 years or 500,000 km (3 years or 210,000 km for standard car) till the first roundhouse servicing from the moment of construction and to 4 years or 350,000 km (2 years or 160,000 km for standard car) between roundhouse servicing allows cutting maintenance expenses of the owner/lessee of the innovative rolling stock greatly.
This year RPC UWC plans to produce up to 15,000 freight cars with advanced parameters in cooperation with partner-plants and the major part of these cars — with extended axle load of 25 tf.
Dmitry Bovykin, First Deputy CEO for General Management at RPC “United Wagon Company”, notes: “Economic benefits of innovative cars are well known in the market. But the production of the 10,000th car at TVSZ speaks of the fact that now these benefits are available for the average customer.”
Igor Krupsky, CEO of Acron-Trans, added: “We have ambitious development strategy of the company. Professional team and innovative technologies will help to achieve our goals. That is why the new generation cars of RPC UWC are very attractive for our business. Acron already has successful experience in operation of innovative cars model 19-9835-01 equipped with 23.5 tf bogies produced by TVSZ. We have essentially decreased our freight charges due to the empty mileage discount fare effective for this car model. Today we are interested also in getting advantages of operation of the rolling stock with increased load capacity.”
