Arkhbum receives additional batch of UWC cars
Research and production corporation “United Wagon Company” (“UWC”, the “Group” or the “Company”) (MOEX: UWGN), Russia’s largest manufacturer of freight cars1, has shipped an additional batch of new generation flat cars (40 feet) for the transportation of timber under its contract with Arkhbum, a major regional railway operator. Together with the latest batch, the number of Tikhvin-produced cars in the operator’s fleet has grown to 319 units.
The model 13-6852-02 (40 feet) flat car used to transport timber has an increased loading volume of 122 m3 and an increased load capacity of 74 t. The car’s design solutions significantly reduce ‘idle’ space when loading freight and ensure that the car can be loaded without a ‘freight cap’. The flat car is equipped with 18-9855 bogies with an axle load of 25 t showing improved operational reliability, which extends the car’s maintenance interval up to 1 million km (or eight years). The flat car has a service life of 40 years.
Vasily Knyrevich, CEO at Arkhbum: “We are enjoying our fruitful and successful partnership with UWC. Our company rates Tikhvin-produced cars very highly. We hope to continue working together in future.”
