The PJSC “Research and production corporation “United Wagon Company” (“RPC UWC” or “the Holding”) (MOEX: UWGN), the market leader in innovative railcar building in the 1520 mm gauge area, and JSC “Bashkir soda company” (“BSC”), one of the largest chemical complexes in Russia and the leader in the production of calcined, caustic and baking soda, PVC and cable plastic compounds, have signed an agreement for the delivery of tank cars for chemical freights.
Within the agreement by the end of 2016 BSC will obtain more than 70 tank cars (model 15-6900) fitted with bogies with axle load 25 tf, manufactured in TikhvinChemMash (part of RPC UWC). Tank cars will be operated for the transportation of hydroxide sodium (liquid caustic) from Caustic (JSC “BSC”) to consignees across the Russian Federation and abroad.
The thermal insulation, made in the form of mats of moisture-resistant basalt fiber, has been applied in the tank car construction design. It prevents freight solidification and allows keeping it in a liquid state in the course of transportation in the cold season at temperatures down to -40С. The availability of the factory insulation is unique to the market.
Payload capacity increased up to 73 t and tank car tank of 54.5 m3 enhance by 12% actual loading compared to standard models on the market. Strength characteristics of tank car running gear provide for increased up to 800 thsd. km (or 8 years) between repairs runs. Applied technical solutions made it possible to establish 32 years of tank car service life (service life of standard counterparts is 24 years).
Tank car is designed by “All-Union Research and Development Centre for Transportation Technology” (part of RPC UWC).
“BSC products are supplied to a wide range of enterprises of chemical, oil and gas, metallurgic and defense complex of the country, for us it is extremely important to provide quality and reliability of transportations of our freights, — says Alexander Babochenko, Head of logistics department at Bashkir soda company. — The advantages of new tank cars is obvious. The between-repairs run and terms of carrying out of scheduled repairs have been increased two times, that can provide for up to almost three times reduction of service maintenance costs of tank cars fleet. In addition to that, tank cars service life is increased — 8 years. Payload capacity is great as well. Accordingly, when a particular chosen volume of freights is transported, required fleet of cars is reduced, and the tariff for empty haul (return) is reduced as well.”
