RPC UWC Publishes 1Q 2016 Operational Results
PJSC “Research and production corporation “United Wagon Company” (“RPC UWC” or the Holding) (MOEX: UWGN), the market leader in innovative railcar manufacturing in the 1520 mm gauge area, publishes its operational results for the first quarter of 2016.
In 1Q 2016, the production output reached 3.0 thousand railcars, a year-over-year increase of 15% due to a greater capacity of UWC's production facilities and growing demand.
In the reporting quarter, the following RPC UWC’s 2 railcar models with increased loading capacity successfully passed certification tests: the tank car for caustic soda and other chemicals, and the methanol tank car, the total number of the certified models reaching 22.
As at the end of the quarter, the size of the fleet owned and controlled by UWC was 28.6 thousand railcars, a 5% increase compared to 2015 end.
The size of the fleet controlled by Vostok1520 increased 9% compared to 2015 end, reaching 16.9 thousand railcars. In 1Q the company carried 5.5 million t of freight, up 263% year-over-year. The freight turnover advanced 286% to 23.8 billion tkm driven by the increased average transportation distance and more block train shipments.
The quarter’s statistics show that the frequency of current uncoupling repairs of TVZS’s new-generation gondolas was 16 times below the network average. High quality and timely maintenance of new generation railcars equipped with Barber bogies is provided by 51 service centres operating in Russia and the CIS.
