TIKHVIN FREIGHT CAR BUILDING PLANT IS EXPANDING ITS SERVICE AREA

Tikhvin Freight Car Building Plant (TVSZ) has signed a long-term agreement with Transvagonmash (TVM) to establish service and repair centers for its new generation freight cars equipped with Barber bogies. As a result sixteen TVSZ’s service centers have been established in the railway network. Technical documentation and original spare parts for Barber bogies are provided in these centers.

Transvagonmash conducted a technical equipment inspection prior to signing the agreement. According to this inspection the parties agreed to establish service centers for the current uncoupling repair of TVSZ cars based on such car-repair enterprises as Gotnya, Svobodnenskiy and Sterlitamakskiy car-repair plants, which are subsidiaries of TVM-group companies.

The TVSZ rolling stock maintenance and repair centers minimize downtime due to repairs by storing parts and barber Bogies working stock at the TVM enterprises, as well as ensuring prompt supply of components to other car-repair enterprises. Maintenance process training and current uncoupling repair of the Barber bogies will be held in order to train the personnel of TVM repair enterprises.

In early 2013 TVSZ also signed a long-term agreement for the establishment of service centers in Russia and CIS countries with  Wagon Repair Company-2,  Siberian Car-repair Company and railway administrations of Ukraine, Belarus, Estonia, Lithuania and Kazakhstan.

Commenting on the agreement, Dmitry Losev, Deputy CEO for Technical Development at the UWC (managing company of TVSZ), noted: “Fully-functional centers branching is one of the critical steps in creating warranty and post-warranty services of freight cars equipped with Barber bogies”.

Valery Kalashnikov, First Deputy CEO at Transvagonmash, added: “We believe that future of the railway transport belongs to the innovative rolling stock. Our ambitious task is quality service maintenance”.
