United Wagon Company and Logistics 1520 signed an agreement of intent
As part of the 20th Moscow International Exhibition and Conference for Transport and Logistics Services "TransRussia 2015" Research and Production Corporation "United Wagon Company" (RPC UWC) and railroad operator Logistics 1520 (former Promkhimtrans) arranged about supply of 600 grain hoppers of new production model 19-9549 with improved technical and economic features.
In accordance with the agreement hopper cars equipped with the 25 tf Barber bogie produced by Tikhvin Freight Car Building Plant (TVSZ, part of RPC UWC railway holding) will be transferred to the operator on the long-term lease until the end of 2015.
The rolling stock is a new one in the model line-up of hopper cars manufactured by TVSZ. The body space of up to 120 m3 and the axle load of up to 25 t provide increased load capacity of up to 76 t. The car design is optimal for the transportation of all types of grain and grain milling products and it is adapted to the requirements of the transhipment terminals. The grain hopper is equipped with the innovative Barber bogie, which allows cutting the cost of its operation for the whole car life due to increased repair intervals.
Vasily Razumov, Operational Director at Logistics 1520, said, "We are familiar with United Wagon Company production. It was a year ago when we signed our first agreement for the supply of a large batch of innovative hoppers manufactured by Tikhvin Freight Car Building Plant. We gave a trial of these cars both in grain and in mineral chemicals transportation during this period. Operating results fully met our expectations. We improved transportation efficiency significantly due to innovative wagons. That is why we have decided to re-expand our company's fleet with the help of UWC new series-built cars."
Alexander Lukyanenko, Deputy CEO for Strategic Sales at RPC UWC, said: "Today we have signed an agreement of intent for supply of cars unique for the Russian market. The grain hoppers that we offer surpass their present counterparts by far for their technical and economic performance. I am sure that many companies targeted on winning and on holding their leadership positions will appreciate this new product.
We are developing a fruitful cooperation with Logistics 1520 operator. We are glad that both of us see that the future of the freight market belongs to new generation cars, and expanding the fleet of such cars plays an important role in the implementation of innovative rolling stock to "1520 gauge".
