United Wagon Company and Mogilev Carriage Works have signed a strategic partnership agreement. The production cooperation provides manufacture of Barber bogie and freight cars equipped with the bogies, prototype test, certification and implementation of innovative products in the territory of Belarus and Russia.
Under the agreement, Mogilev Carriage Works (MCW) will start up at its production facilities assembly of Barber bogie with an axle load of 25 tf (model 18-9855) and 23.5 tf (model 18-9810) and universal drop-bottom gondolas (model 12-9853 and 12-9761-02) fitted with these bogies. The Russian side will provide the Belarus enterprise with all required components for gondola and Barber bogie assembling, as well as arrange a sale of products manufactured by MCW in the territory of 1520 gauge.
Commenting on signing of the agreement, Roman Savushkin, CEO at United Wagon Company, said: “The mass operation of innovative railcar fleet will defuse tension in the rail market. Development of such partnership with freight car building plants and foundries of the CIS will ensure a higher efficiency of our transportation system”.
Valery Osipov, CEO at Mogilev Carriage Works, added: “Car-building industry of the CIS requires quality modernization. We see a growing market interest in innovative rolling stock. In cooperation with UWC we intend to participate in innovative car market promotion, creating a new industry standard for quality”.
