United Wagon Company and Ural Railcar Repair Company, the largest private gondola repair plant, have signed a long-term relationship agreement in the field of service maintenance of innovative freight cars equipped with Barber bogie with axle load of 23.5 and 25 tf.
On the base of Ural Railcar Repair Company (city of Magnitogorsk) parties have agreed to establish service center for the rolling stock produced by Tikhvin Freight Car Building Plant (TVSZ, managed by UWC). Therefore, at the moment 30 maintenance centers for the rolling stock fitted out Barber bogies have been already established on the “1520 gauge” railway network.
The agreement provides for current uncoupling repair, parts and Barber units storage and supply components to outside car-repair enterprises.
Dmitry Losev, Deputy CEO for Technical Development at UWC, said: “Today more than 3,500 innovative cars equipped with Barber bogies are operating on the railway network and 15,000 cars will be manufactured during 2014. Establishment of the full-featured service centers network is one of the key elements in warranty and post-warranty maintenance of such freight cars.”
Viktor Bodnar, CEO at Ural Railcar Repair Company, said: “It is the first step in personnel training and preparation of production to maintain a service of cars equipped with Barber bogies. In 6 years these cars will be fed to first scheduled repair, so we want to be ahead of the curve in development of innovative cars repair market”.
The agreement between companies was signed within the 57th Meeting of Railway Commission Council of authorized specialists of rolling stock railway administration.
More than 100 specialists from 13 Commonwealth countries, representatives of Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, Federal Railway Transport Agency, Federal Transportation Inspection Service, Register of Certification on the Federal Railway Transport, VNIIZhT (Railway Research Institute) and other industry organizations and engineering companies took part in the work of Railway Commission.
