United Wagon Company delivered a new LHG tank car to Skinest Rail
United Wagon Company ("UWC", "Holding" or "the Company"), Russia’s largest manufacturer of freight cars[1], shipped a batch of tank cars for transportation of liquefied hydrocarbon gases (LHG) to the railway concern Skinest Rail, Estonia. The contract for 23 cars was signed this winter.
Tank car, model 15-6855, is a new serial product of UWC holding, and Skinest Rail concern became the first operator of this model in the 1520-mm track gauge area.
A car of 12 m length is characterized by a higher load capacity (61 t) and increased boiler volume (86.7 m³) compared to analogues being in operation nowadays. A significant competitive advantage of the UWC tank car is the increased mileage between overhauls (up to 1 million km or 8 years). The service life of the tank car is 40 years.
The tank car is manufactured in 1-T size, ensuring its operation on all the tracks of public and non-public use, on external and internal tracks of industrial and transport enterprises of the railways of the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States as well as Georgia and Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.
Pavel Plotnikov, board member of Skinest Rail concern: "We expect positive results from the operation of the UWC gas tanks and hope that they will allow our company to efficiently transport cargoes through the Baltic States and neighboring countries in the 1520-mm track gauge area."
