“United Wagon Company” has acquired a car-repair enterprise Tihvin Assembly Plant “Titran-Express”

PJSC “Research and Production Corporation “United Wagon Company” (“RPC UWC” or the “Holding”) (MOEX: UWGN) — the market leader in innovative railcar manufacturing in the 1520 mm gauge area — has acquired 100% of ownership interest in JSC “Tihvin Assembly Plant “Titran-Express” (TAP “Titran-Express”) within the implementation of the strategy for business diversification. As a result, the Holding has enriched its manufacturing assets with a modern machine-building complex for service maintenance of rolling stock. Design capacity of the plant – repair and modernization of more than 3,500 freight cars per annum.

A head service center for the operational maintenance of freight cars, set on innovative Barber bogies, carried out throughout the whole life cycle of cars, has been established in TAP “Titran-Express”. Currently the service activity of the Holding is represented by a network of 6 training and 51 servicing centers on the territory of Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus, including on the basis of car-repair enterprises of the Central Directorate of Infrastructure-branch of Russian Railways, Carriage Repair Company – 1, Carriage Repair Company – 2, Carriage Repair Company – 3, Transvagonmash, Ural Carriage Repair Company, Siberian Car Repair Company, Belarusian Railway, Kamkor Wagon, etc.

TAP “Titran-Express” will become the basis for carrying out of pilot repairs of all nomenclature of new generation freight cars, manufactured in the enterprises of the Holding. It will help update repair documentation and effectively expand service experience and technologies over the whole railway network of “1520 mm track gauge”.  

The production capacities of TAP “Titran-Express” have also provided for the production of wheelsets and running gears of freight cars, equipped with cassette-type bearings. 

The operation of JSC “Tihvin Assembly Plant “Titran-Express” dates back to 1963, when the development of the industrial site, situated in the town of Tikhvin, was started. Since its inception, the plant has focused on the production of various components for railway transport, as well as on the production for military industrial sector. From 2005 till 2008 a comprehensive reconstruction of the production was carried out in the plant. TAP “Titran-Express” is currently carrying out preparation of its business management system to comply with IRIS international standard of the railway industry.
