United Wagon Company joins the Association of American Railroads

United Wagon Company (UWC) has joined the Association of American Railroads (AAR) that unites the largest manufacturers of rolling stock, machinery equipment and owners of railway infrastructure in North America. UWC has become the first Russian member of AAR.

Under this partnership, the main United Wagon Company’s task is an exchange of experience and participation in researching and operating AAR’s programmes on large-scale (mass) implementation of the new generation railway technology including heavy haul products to the railway network.

Cooperation of United Wagon Company with sectorial industrial association of the leading railway nation contribute to solution for the freight cars extension on the “1520 mm gauge” space, equipped with innovative bogies, as well as further development of competitive product line of Tikhvin Freight Car Building Plant, production of modern car components and implementation of heavy haul traffic technologies on a long-term horizon.

The Association of American Railroads was established in 1934 and as the leading standardizing organization it plays an important role in railway market promotion of new scientific and technological achievements. AAR members include the railroads of the United States, Canada and Mexico, as well as Amtrak, the National Railroad Passenger Corporation, and more than 60 owners and leases of rolling stock. The main AAR’s goal is to maintain a high level of safety and economic efficiency of freight transportation.
