United Wagon Company presents its latest freight car designs at PRO//Motion.Expo biennial in Moscow

PJSC “Research and production corporation “United Wagon Company” (“UWC”, the “Holding or the “Company”) (MOEX: UWGN), Russia’s largest manufacturer of freight cars1, acts as a partner of this year’s International Railway Fair in the Area 1520 “PRO//Motion.Expo”. UWC will show its new generation freight cars, including several articulated models, at the salon.

Visitors to PRO//Motion.Expo will be able to view UWC’s family of articulated freight cars mounted on 25 t axle load bogies. The cars are equipped with a gapless coupling device that connects their two sections ensuring easy passage along curved track sections, including curves with small radii. The use of articulated freight cars makes it possible to increase the overall train weight to 9,000 tons.

The following UWC six-axle railcars will be on show at PRO//Motion.Expo:

  • Model 19-6978 (-01) articulated hopper car for transport of grains and mineral fertilisers. The 160 m3 car body enables to transport efficiently a broad range of bulk cargoes loading to the maximum capacity of 113.5 tons. The car is compatible with the existing rail infrastructure and can be operated at the existing loading and unloading terminals.
  • Model 15-9541-01 articulated tank car for transport of liquefied petroleum gases. The car can carry over twice more liquefied gas than a typical LPG car, thanks to its increased loading capacity (90 tons) and an aggregate tank volume of 163.1 m3, enabling operators to reduce the size of their rolling stock fleet. Fittings are placed so as to match those of 12-meter cars to ensure easy handling at standard loading and unloading terminals.
  • Model 12-6877-02 articulated gondola car with unloading hatches for bulk cargoes. Its increased volume of 142 m3 and loading capacity of 114.5 tons render cargo shipments far more efficient. The gondola car is compatible with the existing infrastructure of cargo shippers and recipients and can be unloaded using modern rotary car dumpers, VRS-125 and VRS-134 dumpers.

UWC will also present its recently designed model 32-6982-01 four-axle dump car for transport of bulk and lump cargoes used in the construction and mining industries. The new railcar has the following specifications:

  • A body volume of 42 m3 and a loading capacity of 72 tons enable efficient transportation of bulk cargo of various fractions. The maximum load exceeds that of standard dump cars by nearly 10 tons saving up to 15% on the fleet size. The car is designed for coupling to any freight trains and is compatible with the existing infrastructure of cargo shippers and receivers. The opening mechanism and pneumatic unloading system allow tilting the car body at an angle of 45° to either side with the sides opening simultaneously followed by return to the upright transport position.

UWC specialists at PRO//Motion.Expo will offer special presentations of the dump car, including a demonstration of the unloading process, every day from August, 28 to August, 30, inclusive.

The UWC stand at PRO//Motion.Expo is located in rail section No. 56 of the test rail track built by the Railway Research Institute (VNIIZhT, Shcherbinka, Moscow).
