UWC to deliver 4,000 container flat cars to RB GROUP

PJSC «Research and production corporation «United Wagon Company» («RPC UWC», the Group or the Company) (MOEX: UWGN), Russia’s largest manufacturer of freight cars[1], and transport company “RB GROUP” LTD agreed to broaden their cooperation executing a contract for the supply of 4,000 new generation container flat cars at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. The contract was signed by Timofey Khryapov, CEO of UWC, and Alexander Kakhidze, Chairman of the Board of Directors of RB GROUP.

In April of this year, the companies made the first contract for the delivery of 3,600 flat cars intended to carry high-capacity containers. Once all the agreements are fulfilled, RB Group's fleet will be operating a total of 7,600 new generation container flat cars manufactured in Tikhvin.

The 13-6903 flat car has an increased payload of 74.5 t and a loading length of 80 ft. The railcar is designed to carry 20-, 30- and 40-foot high-capacity containers, including reefers and tank containers with a gross weight of up to 36 t, which can be securely fixed to the underframe using 4 stationary and 10 movable container pins. Common and tank containers are placed and secured on the flat car in compliance with local technical conditions.

UWC’s flat car is equipped with innovative 18-9855 bogies with an axle load of 25 t, which significantly increases operational reliability of the car and helps extend its maintenance interval up to 1 million km (or 8 years). By comparison, common cars mounted on bogies with an axle load of 23.5 t will have to undergo their first scheduled depot maintenance upon completing 210,000 km, or 3 years after construction, with the service to be repeated after 120-210 thousand km or 3 years. The service life of the Tikhvin flat car is 32 years.
