UWC to manufacture 1,000 container flat cars for Trans Synergy

PJSC «Research and production corporation «United Wagon Company» (RPC UWC, the Group or the Company) (MOEX: UWGN), Russia’s largest manufacturer of freight cars1, will supply 1,000 innovative large-capacity container flat cars to the intermodal container operator Trans Synergy LLC during 2021.

The innovative rolling stock will be delivered under a trilateral contract signed between the UWC Group, State Transport Leasing Company (GTLK) and Trans Synergy. This is the second deal between the companies: 360 similar container flat cars were sent to the operator last year. According to Stanislav Stankevich, Executive Director at Trans Synergy LLC, the company's strategy is to become a leader in the railway container transportation segment, which requires intensive expansion of its fleet.

The competitive advantage of the innovative flat car, Model 13-6903, is its increased payload capacity of 74.5 t with a loading length of 80 ft. The car can carry containers, including refrigerated ones, and tank containers of various sizes with a gross weight of up to 36 t. The flat car meets the Local Technical Specifications in terms of placement and fastening of large-capacity containers.

The car is mounted on bogies with an axle load of 25 t, which ensures its high reliability in operation. The service life of the flat car is 32 years with a maintenance interval of 8 years (or up to 1 million km). For comparison, a standard flat car equipped with 23.5 t bogies is sent for its first scheduled maintenance after 3 years of operation, or upon completing 210 thousand km, with the subsequent maintenance performed after 3 years or 120-210 thousand km.

Stanislav Stankevich, Executive Director at Trans Synergy LLC: “The company is currently in an active construction phase. This year we are faced with the task of increasing our fleet of container flat cars to exceed the threshold of 5,000 units. From the outset, the company has been building its fleet with new generation cars, the technical and economic characteristics of which are considerably superior to their counterparts running on the rail network, which gives us a significant advantage over our competitors. We are confident that in these challenging times, we will be able to build a successful business, relying on the high competencies of our team, as well as modern and efficient rolling stock. Therefore, we look forward to developing further fruitful cooperation with the State Transport Leasing Company and United Wagon Company.”
