UWC ships tank cars for transporting chemical freights to EuroChem

Research and production corporation “United Wagon Company” (UWC or the Company) (MOEX: UWGN), Russia’s largest manufacturer of freight cars1, has shipped 18 stainless steel tank cars to EuroChem, one of the leading global producers of mineral fertilizers. The 15-6900-01 model rolling stock on 25 t axle load bogies will be used in the fleet of Novomoskovski Khlor (part of the EuroChem Group).

The model 15-6900-01 tank car is equipped with a stainless steel tank. The detachable joints of the hatch covers have sealing elements made of fluoropolymers, a modern material that is resistant to friction and the wearing effects of hazardous materials. Thanks to the corrosion-resistant tank, the car can transport a wide range of chemical freights while preventing risk to service personnel and eliminating any environmental impact of transporting hazardous freights.

The bogie’s increased axle load of 25 t and tank volume of 54.5 m3 increases the car’s loading capacity up to 76.5 t. The Tikhvin-produced tank car can be loaded with up to 8.5 t of additional freight compared with standard models available on the market.

The model 15-6900-01 tank car has an increased maintenance interval of up to 1 million km (or eight years). Standard models are sent for their first depot repair after running 210,000 km (or two years after construction), with subsequent repairs carried out every 110,000–160,000 km (or two years). The service life of the Tikhvin-produced 15-6900-01 model is 32 years.

Ivan Ruban, CEO at Novomoskovski Khlor: “The history of our enterprise dates back to 1936 when our bleach-producing workshop, the only one in the country at the time, began its production activities. Since 2007, Novomoskovski Khlor has been run as an independent operation within the EuroChem Group. In line with the high standards we seek to adhere to across the Group, we make sure to use safe and efficient vehicles for transporting freights. Following other EuroChem companies, we have taken the decision to purchase 18 UWC-produced cars for transporting sodium hydroxide, given the strong operational results they have shown both at enterprises belonging to the Group and on the market more broadly.”
