VNICTT wins awards in a contest held during the 10th National Science and Technology Conference

All-Union Research and Development Centre for Transportation Technology (VNICTT, a member entity of the UWC Rail Group) has won awards in the “Railway Rolling Stock Manufacture” category of the open Innovative Project Contest for young researchers and industry professionals held in the final part of the National Science and Technology Conference celebrating its 10th anniversary.

The National Science and Technology Conference is organized annually by the Machine Builders Association of Russia. The main goal of the event is to develop the creative potential of talented young people, engaging them in solving current production, technical and economic problems through the introduction of promising developments of practical importance for the development of Russian industry.

VNICTT took the second place for its project "Articulated Tank Car for Liquefied Petroleum Gases, Model 15-9541-01" and the fourth place for the project "Development of Set of Calculation Methods and Computer Models to Study Safety and Performance Indicators of Automatic Couplers". The authors of the projects are young and promising design engineers and research engineers.

The contestants presented their projects to an expert committee that selected the winners. The expert team included representatives of Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute (TsAGI), Concern Vega JSC, Bauman Moscow State Technical University, Moscow Aviation Institute, MSTU Stankin, OPZHT, NAMI, Transport Research and Education Centre, Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University named after R.E. Alekseev, and JSC Baltic Shipyard. This year more than 170 projects were evaluated during the competition.

Anna Orlova, Deputy CEO for Strategy and Product at PJSC “RPC UWC”, and Executive Director at LLC “VNICTT”: "We are glad to see more and more of our scientific and technical developments being highly appreciated by the expert community. Participation in prestigious competitions gives us confidence that the solutions we offer for the railcar building industry are relevant and effective, and will help to open new perspectives for all parties engaged in the transportation process. Moreover, the fact that these are young specialists who participate in the projects allows us to look to the future with confidence, understanding that the Group has built a systematic process to meet the challenge of changing generations of engineers, ensuring that knowledge and skills are transferred from experienced to younger employees. The development of design and engineering ideas is one of the priorities of the UWC Group, as maintaining a leading position in the 1520-mm space and entering international markets require us to continue moving forward all the time."
