Gondola with unloading hatches, model 12-9853
Description
This freight car is the first serial modification of the universal gondola car in the holding product line since the official launch of Tikhvin Freight Car Building Plant production. Increased up to 92 m3 body space of the new generation car of model 12-9853 provides for the transportation of freight of a wide range of density utilizing car full payload capacity. In one trip this car transports up to 10% more freight compared to a standard type car.
Considerable competitive advantage of the freight car are increased terms of between-repairs run which provide for the reduction of its life cycle costs by almost 3 times. The gondola car is completely compatible with the existing infrastructure and can be operated at all types of loading-unloading terminals.

Denis Ilatovsky, Logistics Director of SUEK
«The transport cost can have a significant impact on cheap freights in the first place and can reach up to 60–70% of the product price due to the distances in Russia and the current world prices.
The transport cost, apart from tariffs, depends on technological parameters of transportation. For instance, the increase in speed of rail transportations reduces demand for railcars. The formation of route dispatches leads to the increase in transportation speed and reduces the tariff for consignors. The growth of a freight car’s extent of loading and the operational use of innovative freight cars reduce a per unit railway tariff. Therefore, without additional reduction of tariffs, the Russian Railways and consignors can jointly lower the transport cost and that decision would enhance competitiveness and volumes of domestic goods export».
Evgeny Zhirnikov, Head of leasing department at Business Alliance
«Our company’s strategy is aimed at the diversification of the portfolio according to a branch principle, and innovative freight cars seem to us to be a very promising leasing object – firstly, taking into account the necessity of freight cars fleet updating in this country, secondly, considering the beginning of railway branch growth as a whole».

“The company expects to increase throughput capacity at loading terminals and in ports by 8%, cut down transportation costs due to a discount for gondolas of model 12-9853 and a greater payload capacity”.
