Flat car for the transportation of large-capacity containers,
model 13-6851-01/13-6851-05
Description
New generation flat cars with 25 tf axle load and with 80 t payload capacity.
40-foot model 13-6851-01 and 13-6851-05 flat cars are intended to carry heavyweight containers and tank containers of the following size categories: 1EEE, 1EE, 1AAA, 1AA, 1A, 1AX, 1BBB, 1BB,1B, 1BX, 1CC, 1C, and 1CX, with a gross weight of up to 36 t, and specialized containers with a gross weight not exceeding 40 t (inclusive). The model 13-6851-01 flat car is designed to carry non-hazardous freight and is equipped with a Class T1 (or higher) draft gear, while the model 13-6851-05 flat car has a Class T3 (or higher) draft gear which enables it to transport heavyweight containers and tank containers with hazardous cargoes.
The key competitive edges of the 40-foot container flat cars are their improved reliability and safety when transporting heavyweight containers, as they are mounted on bogies with an axle load 25 tf and use reinforced frame and container pin designs.
The construction of both flat cars 13-6851-01 and 13-6851-05 provides for fatigue strength for the entire service life of 40 years.
Increased terms of between-repairs runs, which provide for the reduction of the freight car life cycle costs by almost 3 times, are a considerable competitive advantage of the freight car.

“We have been transporting freight using Tikhvin-produced cars since 2018. We were already aware of UWC as a car manufacturer with a serious portfolio of cars and high-quality production standards at the time. Our experience of operating Tikhvin-produced cars confirms UWC’s status as a leader in Russian car manufacturing. Furthermore, we have recently signed a contract on the supply of cars for the 1,435-mm track gauge, and are now in the process of signing a contract on an additional batch of cars for the 1,520-mm track gauge. I am certain that our market position depends on choosing the right supplier for our cars. The operational reliability and improved technical specifications of the UWC cars give us significant advantages over our competitors”.

“Our company decided to make new purchases of freight cars on 25 tf bogies in order to meet the increasing demand for our services. We are also committed to the steady improvement of our rolling stock’s operating efficiency , so we were attracted not just by the higher payload, but also by a longer mileage between maintenance activities increased to 1 million km, which will speed up our international transit throughput”.
