Tank car for transportation of methanol,
model 15-6880/15-6880-01
Description
A new generation tank car possesses improved technical and economic characteristics in comparison with the analogues available on the market.
With the tank space increased to 88 m3 for model 15-6880 and to 94 m3 for model 15-6880-01 (+2,5 м³ / +8,5 м³ while maintaining a standard length of the freight car), the loading capacity of the tank has been enlarged. The tank design with a “broken” axis provides for maximum draining of the tank. An increased run time between repairs is a significant competitive advantage of the freight car of models 15-6880 and 15-6880-01, which allows cutting down the cost of the freight car life cycle by almost 3 times.

Opinions
Igor Chukreev, Head of the Transport Department of Metafrax
“We are interested in highly reliable new generation rail cars developed in cooperation with UWC holding company. They have an increased to 32 years service life, different payback period, and their run between repairs is four times longer in comparison with rail cars of other manufacturers. Therefore, we intend to establish a lasting partnership with UWC, as long as the company continues boosting technical and economic characteristics of their vehicles”.
Igor Chukreev, Head of the Transport Department of Metafrax
“These are freight cars of the future, to which there are no counterparts neither in Russia nor in the entire post-Soviet space. We will be the first company to load them, dispatch and evaluate, and this work is of great interest to us”.
Igor Chukreev, Head of the Transport Department of Metafrax
“In 2016, 134 new generation tank cars for methanol were accepted in the enterprise for operational use. This year within the contract with UWC 20 tank cars for formalin loading are transferred to the company. The maximum number of tank cars according to the program of railway infrastructure development includes 900 new tank cars updating to be carried out till 2019. In order to perform guarantee and post-guarantee servicing of the fleet of a higher quality and to ensure the fleet reliable operation in the territory of Metafrax company industrial site it is planned to open the company's own servicing center of the third category. The center will obtain authorization for carrying out maintenance repair and storage of spare parts of the Barber bogie, as well as wheelsets with axle loads 23.5 and 25 ton-force”.

“The business development strategy of our company targets major production and sales increases by 2030. Our investment budget specifically includes the cost of transport infrastructure improvement and phased renewal of the railway fleet. Metafrax chooses methanol tank cars made by UWC owing to their high-level performance.”
Eugenia Khomyakova, Director General at transport directorate SPA Azot
“For several years now the company has made robust efforts to renew its fleet of rolling stock, and the fleet of 295 tank cars previously acquired from UWC has been in active operation on the Russian Railways network and in the territories of neighbouring countries. Due to the significant growth in volume of goods produced and transported as rail freights, the company is seeking to acquire new generation rolling stock in order to provide high levels of efficiency and maximum reliability. Our experience of working with UWC has shown that the supplier cares about the quality of its products, can meet its manufacturing deadlines, and is able to find the most convenient solution possible for each of its clients. We care about producing high-quality chemical products and ensuring that they are delivered safely to customers, and so choosing the right supplier for our rolling stock is hugely important to us.”
Eugenia Khomyakova, Director General at transport directorate SPA Azot
“Our enterprise is looking to build its fleet of high-quality rolling stock that meets regulations and standards applicable to the transportation of hazardous goods. UWC tank cars are very reliable in terms of operation, and have reinforcements built into the design, which contributes to the safe transportation of methanol. Using TikhvinChemMash-produced tank cars for transporting methanol allows us to organise the most efficient possible transportation of the product.”

Vladimir Daut, CEO at Metafrax
“Today an active preparation for the implementation of huge investment projects is taking place at Metafrax. We intend to significantly increase the production and sales volumes as part of a strategy of the group of companies’ business development until 2030. A separate line of the investment budget is the improvement of the infrastructure, the upgrade of railway-fleet on a phased basis. The upgrade programme will be in effect until 2019 and it covers more than 900 units of methanol and formalin tank-cars. It is clear that we are interested in the new generation rolling stock, possessing high degree of reliability, developed in cooperation with UWC Holding”.
