Tank car for transportation of sulfuric acid, model 15-9545
Description
A new generation tank car possesses improved technical and economic characteristics comparing to conventional analogues.
The tank space amounts to 44 m³ and the freight car payload of 77 t which allows increasing its loading capacity by more than 10%. The tank car features the tank with a “broken” axis ensuring maximum draining. An increased run time between repairs is a significant competitive advantage of the freight car, model 15-9545, which allows cutting down the cost of the freight car life cycle by almost 3 times.

Opinions
Alexey Kukushkin, Deputy Director for Commercial and Financial Issues at Sredneuralsk Copper Smelter
“For us it is vital to enhance transport security of supplies of the plant products. Not so long ago we updated our automobile fleet with transport means possessing modern control systems and advanced ergonomics. Today our goal is to replenish freight cars fleet. When choosing a rolling stock, its failure-free operation and high efficiency of freight traffic in it play a crucial role. UWC tank cars meet our requirements in terms of these indicators.”
Evgeny Volkhin, Deputy Head of the railway shop at Sredneuralsky Copper Smelter
“TikhvinChemMash new generation tank cars for sulfuric acid, which have arrived to the plant, have an obvious advantage over standard tanks: they have a large payload capacity; some changes were made to their construction design at the initiative of the buyer. Such tank cars were already in operational use in the plant in 2015 and gained a good reputation, that’s why in 2016 it was decided to purchase 16 Tikhvin tank cars”.
UMMC representative
“The company is committed to building a closed technology chain and that rolling stock for the transportation of raw materials and finished products is a vital link in that chain. Cooperation with UWC is strengthening UMMC’s transport capabilities and making them more efficient”.
Andrey Khanzhin, CEO at Karabashmed
“The company cares about the quality of its products, the safety of production and the reliability of its transportation fleet, including freight cars. We hope that the new tanks will enable us to achieve this objective.”
Valery Baldin, Managing Director at Polar Freight Company
“The key factor to ensuring a successful transportation process is using a reliable means of transport. We have chosen UWC’s tank cars based on our previous favourable experience of operating railcars manufactured in Tikhvin. Our commitment is to build a long-term partnership with UWC as a supplier of new generation rolling stock”.
Tatiana Levchenko, Director of Major Corporate Client Relations at the UBRD
“This is not the first time that the Ural Bank for Reconstruction and Development has acted as a partner in a major deal like this one, which signals he UBRD is trusted by companies. The bank is acting as a lessee in this deal, with 150 tank cars purchased and leased to Polar Freight Company. I am happy to see us being able to support both companies at a time: the transport operator and the manufacturer, facilitating the development of the economy of the Ural region and Russia as a whole”.
Oleg Balakirev, CEO at Transport Logistics Systems
“The Siberian region serves as one of Russia’s largest transportation and transit hubs. In order to work effectively in this highly competitive environment, companies require not only efficiency and high professional standards from their teams, but also modern rolling stock. Specialized cars on bogies with a 25 t axle load are a relatively recent arrival on the market. We have heard a great deal of positive feedback about working with 25 tf cars, and see this delivery of UWC tank cars as our first trial run, but hopefully not the final step on the journey towards operating a fleet of new generation cars. The rolling stock we have acquired will allow us to ensure the uninterrupted export of our clients’ products, while reducing transportation costs per tonne of transported product”.
Aleksey Serov, CEO at RS-Trans
“Our Company has been in the business of railway transportation since 2007. By now, we have risen to the level of providing integrated freightage by rail, cargo forwarding and terminal handling services. The policy of RS-Trans is pivoted towards an individual approach to each client, quick response to any request and optimization of the route network. Nothing listed above would be possible without efficient rolling stock. The acquisition of UWC tank cars on 25-t axle load bogies to transport sulfuric acid enables us to upgrade our client service and we plan to further ramp up our fleet with new generation railcars, because they demonstrate excellent performance”.

Andrey Vaschenko, Independent Expert of Gaspromtrans
“Enterprises using liquid sulfur in their production process can replace it with sulfuric acid. In this regard, it was decided to do a thorough research of the market of sulfuric acid transportation by rail. Gazpromtrans have studied and compared tank cars produced by Ruzchimmash, NPK Uralvagonzavod, Novozybkovsky Machine Works and Tikhvin Freight Car Building Plant. Following the results of the analysis, the TVSZ tank cars with a payload capacity of 77 tons were deemed the best option”.
