Tank car for transportation of treacle and vegetable oil,
model 15-6900-04
Description
The 15-6900-04 tank car is designed to carry treacle and vegetable oils on 1500 mm gauge mainline railways. The range of goods which can be transported includes some 30 products of the food processing industry, from starch products to vegetable oils.
The design of the car’s tank made of stainless steel ensures that the cargo, whether it is a derivative or a ready-to-use product, is safely preserved during transportation. The customer may request a complex (mechanical and chemical) treatment of the tank’s interior surfaces to comply with stricter international requirements to transportation of food products. The car’s steam heating system and a “bent axis” design of the tank ensure that it is emptied to its maximum at a variety of temperatures.
The treacle and vegetable oil tank car is fully compatible with the existing infrastructure and can be handled at all types of loading and unloading terminals.

Vasily Maklakov, Director at Trans-Servis
“Today, we can see not only railways competing for cargoes with other modes of transport, but also tank cars competing with tank containers. We have decided that for now, the optimal and most profitable option for us is delivering products in tank cars. When it comes to tank containers, there are issues, yet unresolved, related to the development of extensive infrastructure for their maintenance and servicing on the network. It is for this reason that we have opted for the new Tikhvin-produced stainless steel tank car equipped with 25 t axle load bogies. We believe that the emergence of new generation cars in the transportation of food items will significantly improve the segment’s performance. This is our first experience of cooperation with UWC, and we hope to see it growing further in future”.

“We value our partnership with United Wagon Company. There are already Tikhvin-produced cars for transporting caustic soda in the GATX Rail Vostok fleet. Our clients are showing real interest in models with increased payload capacity, and we are pleased to be able to offer them this fleet in partnership with UWC and gain practical experience in operating it. We are also happy to note that the UWC team shows a great degree of professionalism and an eagerness to meet all of our requirements”.
