Tank car for transportation of LPG, model 15-9541-01
(articulated)
Description
The 15-9541-01 tank car model is designed for the transportation of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) along main railroads in the 1520 mm gauge area.
The tank car, unique in its design, consists of two tanks connected by a slack-free coupler. The car length over coupler pulling faces is 24,020 mm with each section being 12,020 mm long. The design of the articulated tank car ensures a smooth passage of the articulated car alone as well connected to standard cars along straight and curved sections of the track, including those with small radii, in line with regulatory standards. As the location of the tank fittings matches that of a standard 12-metre car, UWC's articulated tank cars can be easily serviced at standard terminals.
An increased overhaul mileage represents a significant competitive gain, reducing overall costs in the car’s life cycle.

“We have a stable flow of orders for LPG transportation on both domestic and international routes spanning long distances, primarily from Irkutsk Oil Company. To handle the orders, we need modern rolling stock that would ensure high efficiency of our shipments. It is clear to us that such rolling stock is represented by Tikhvin articulated tank cars mounted on 25-tf bogies. We have been replenishing our fleet with these tank cars since the start of the year and they have shown positive operating results. This motivated us to purchase another lot. We firmly believe our business relations with UWC will persist as a long-term, robust and mutually beneficial cooperation”.

“Starting to ship freight in articulated cars represents a huge breakthrough for the entire rail freight industry. Operating these revolutionary cars will bring a raft of advantages to each party involved in the transportation process, from the freight owner to the owner of the rolling stock and the railway infrastructure operator, and, therefore, the popularity of these cars will most certainly grow. We are extremely pleased to see the operation of articulated cars in the 1520 area go international as soon as it commences involving Tikhvin manufactured cars, Irkutsk oil workers, and Kazakhstan’s railmen”.
